Kansas Nurse Practitioners

House Bill 2205

Posted about 10 years ago by Denette Vonada-Smith

Dear Kansas APRN,

Thank you for your efforts to improve access to APRN care in Kansas. Your efforts are having a positive impact and helping to highlight that right sized-regulation of APRNs through SB 69 and HB 2122 would improve health care delivery in our state.

In addition to your continued strong contacts to legislators in support of HB 2122 and SB 69, we are reaching out to seek your help in opposing HB 2205.

HB 2205 was introduced last week at the request of the Kansas Medical Society and is being positioned to legislators as a "compromise" to HB 2122 and SB 69. This bill is not a compromise and would move our state back several decades in the regulation of APRNs. The bill would create a new, direct oversight by the Board of Healing Arts over APRN practice, redefine the practice of an APRN, and create an entirely new regulatory process for all APRN practice and prescribing under joint oversight of the Board of Healing Arts and the Board of Nursing.

Please click here (see link below) to email your State Representative and request they oppose HB 2205.

Thank you for reaching out and remaining polite, professional, and actively focused on the impact these bills will have on patients in our great state.

Regards,

Michelle Knowles, MSN, ARNP-BC
